Artemide, international leader in the field of light, has always been synonymous with innovation and made in Italy with iconic products of contemporary design. Founded in 1960, it is one of the best known lighting brands in the world. There are numerous invention patents recognized over the years for the technological, mechanical and optoelectronic innovations developed (10 filed only in 2016). Artemide has contributed to the history of international design with products such as Eclisse (1967, by Vico Magistretti), Tolomeo (1989, by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina) Pipe (2004, by Herzog & De Meuron) and the IN-EI collection (2014 , by Issey Miyake), all awarded the Compasso d’Oro Award. In 1994 Artemide received the Compasso d’Oro Award for Lifetime Achievement, the prestigious European Design Prize in 1997 and the “Leonardo Quality Italy 2012 Award” in 2013.
Artemide lamps are internationally considered icons of contemporary design: they are exhibited in the major museums of modern art and design collections in the world (MoMA – New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art – New York, Victoria and Albert Museum – London, National Museum of Science and Technology – Milan, National Gallery of Modern Art – Rome, Paris, Center Georges Pompidou etc.)
Artemide has always collaborated with the most famous international designers and actively promotes workshops with design schools in order to discover the best talents among the young generation. In its path of innovation it has also established research collaborations with prestigious Italian and international universities.
